Masahiko TSUKAMOTO received the B.E., M.S., and Dr.E. degrees from Kyoto University, Kyoto, Japan, in 1987, 1989, and 1994, respectively. From April 1989 to February 1995, he was a research engineer at Sharp Corporation. In March 1995, he joined the Department of Information Systems Engineering of Osaka University as an assistant professor, and since October 1996, he has been an associate professor at the same department.

He is a board member of AOW(Asia Oceania Workshop)-LANSIG, an assistant board member of Data Engineering SIG of IEICE(The Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers, JAPAN), and a member of six learned societies: ACM(SIGMOD, SIGPLAN, SIGCOMM, and SIGART), IEEE(Computer Soc., and Communication Soc.), IPSJ(Information Processing Society of Japan: DPS, DBS, AI, and PRO-SIGs), IEICE, JSAI(Japanese Society for Artificial Intelligence), JSSST(Japan Society for Software Science and Technology), and VRSJ(Virtual Reality Society of Japan). He is currently the editor of the IS-IS protocol & IDRP enhancement of ISO/IEC 10613 - Profile RAp.q - Relaying the Connectionless-mode Network Service.

His current research interests include database systems, knowledge-base systems, and distributed computing systems.
